Getting to Sydney & Getting Around

  • Arriving in Sydneys

Sydney Airport (SYD) is the main international and domestic gateway for most visitors coming to Australia for the 2026 AMMA Conference.

  • It’s located about 8–9 km south of the central business district (CBD), making it quick and easy to reach your hotel or conference venue.
  • Flights: Sydney Airport is one of the busiest in the world with direct connections from major cities across Asia, Europe, North America and the Pacific region.

Airport to City Transport Options

  • Train
  • The Airport Link train connects both the Domestic and International terminals to Central and other key stations in around 10–15 minutes — a fast and reliable option.
  • You can pay with an Opal card or a contactless credit/debit card.
  • Taxi & Rideshare
  • Taxis and rideshare services (Uber, Ola, DiDi) are available at the airport and typically take about 20 minutes to reach the CBD, depending on traffic.
  • A trial was introduced recently that caps taxi fares to the CBD, improving pricing transparency for first-time visitors.
  • Private Transfers & Shuttles
  • Shared shuttle buses provide direct transport to many hotels across Sydney for a set fare — often a good choice for groups.

  • Light Rail & Metro provide speedy connections within central areas and to districts such as Barangaroo and Chatswood.
  • Most services accept Opal cards or contactless payment for convenience.
  • Taxis & Rideshare
Taxis are easy to hail in the city, and rideshare services operate widely, offering door-to-door travel when public transport isn’t ideal.
